Kvest is an independently run resource for English speakers learning Norwegian — built for people moving to Norway, preparing for the Norskprøven, and working toward permanent residence or citizenship. It is not affiliated with UDI, Kompetanse Norge, Vox, or any Norwegian government body.

What this site covers

Kvest publishes practical guides across four areas: the language requirements and application process for permanent residence and citizenship, Norskprøven preparation (reading, writing, listening, and oral sections), everyday and workplace Norwegian, and foundational grammar and vocabulary for English speakers starting from zero.

How the content is produced and kept current

Guides on requirements, tests, and applications are based on the official rules published by UDI, Kompetanse Norge, and Vox, and are checked against those sources when written and when rules change — such as the language requirement changes that took effect 1 September 2025. Language-learning content (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation) draws on standard reference grammars and established teaching resources. Kvest does not offer legal advice; for a decision on your specific case, the relevant government body or a qualified immigration adviser is the authoritative source.

Independence

Kvest is supported by display advertising and by affiliate commissions from language-learning courses, apps, tutoring services, and books linked in some guides. Which courses or books we mention, and how we describe them, is not influenced by whether a commercial relationship exists. See the affiliate disclosure page for the specific programs involved.
